IMT-Bucharest (National Institute for R&D in Microtechnologies) is full partner in four networks of excellence from FP 6. AMICOM and PATENT, are in the field "Micro and nanosystems" from priority 2 (IST, information society technologies). From priority 3 (NMP) the networks are:

NANOFUN-POLY: "Nanostructured and Functional Polymer-Based Materials and Nanocomposites" and
4M: "Multi-Material Micro Manufacture: Technologies and Applications".

IMT is also member of ASSEMIC network for Training by research (Marie Curie activity), and is the coordinator of two specific support actions dedicated to candidate coutries: MINAEASTNET (still under negotiation) and ROMNET-ERA.

IMT is the coordinator of CENOBITE (a Romanian virtual centre of research in nanobiotechnology) and NANOMATFAB (i.e. "Nanotechnology for New Materials and New Fabrication Processes"), a project which is run by a consortium which contains all Romanian partners in the successful proposals for "new instruments" in FP 6. Both CENOBITE and NANOMATFAB are using the model of NoE in FP 6, aiming at integration of research laboratories from various institutions in a virtual multi-disciplinary centre. Being the "hub" of national networks and a contact point for six European networks from FP 6, IMT launched recently the initiative INCENTIVE:

NANO, devoted to the interaction of research with both universities and industry in an "International Centre for Innovation and Education in Nanobiotechnologies".
