Abstract. An RF MEMS tunable impedance matching network is presented in this paper. The distinctive specification of the tuner is the multi-frequency operation. This double-stub impedance matcher is specifically designed for the input matching of a two-stage ultrawideband (UWB) low noise amplifier (LNA). The tuner has 14 RF MEMS switches unequally placed on the two stubs to obtain input matching to the LNA in a more than one octave operational bandwidth; 1.8-1.9 GHz, 2.1-2.2 GHz, and 4.9-5.9 GHz bands. The tuner is able to select optimum noise performance (impedance matching to optimum noise impedance) or minimum input reflection (conjugate impedance matching).
