Abstract:
The paper presents the experimental results concerning the elaboration by mechanical alloying (MA) of some Fe nanopowders alloyed with 3% Mn, 1% Mo, 1.5% Cr and 0.5% B. These nanopowders will be used as master-alloys to process PM low alloyed sintered steels. The influence of the milling time of the fine grinding of the powder particles on the morphology and distribution of the alloying elements in the nanoparticles powders was analyzed. It is proved that the transition from the micrometric to the nanometric range of the particles is of 40 hours and after 60 hours the alloying elements have a homogeneous distribution in the powder particles.
