INTEGRATED RF-MEMS ANTENNA SYSTEMS FOR WIRELESS DEVICES

Abstract. This paper discuss some of the key aspects to design a reconfigurable RF-MEMS switched multi-element antenna from the point of view of RF-system diversity optimization. The active matching concept for a multi-element antenna architecture, the antenna miniaturization limits and techniques, and a MEMS technology compatible with RF-substrates are reviewed. Finally a 5–6 GHz three and four-element prototypes of reconfigurable antennas are presented.
