A NEW TOPOLOGY OF RF MEMS SHUNT SWITCH FOR RECONFIGURABLE SYSTEMS APPLICATIONS

Abstract. This paper proposes a new topology for a RF MEMS Shunt Switch. Using two cantilevers, the proposed Two Cantilevers Shunt Switch (TCSS) combines the intrinsic low spring constant of the cantilevers with the electromagnetic behavior of the fixed-fixed beam Shunt Switch. Two applications of the proposed TCSS are presented: a reconfigurable bandstop filter and a bandpass filter with variable bandwidth.
