Abstract. The phase behaviour of dimyristoyl phosphatidyl choline (DMPC) and cholesterol (CHO) monolayers at the air/water interface was investigated by surface pressure and surface potential measurements using Langmuir technique. The nano-structures of DMPC and CHO monolayers were further studied by Langmuir-Blodgett technique (LBT) coupled with tapping mode atomic force microscopy (AFM).
